Tee Time!

After raising 5 sons I was anxiously awaiting granddaughters!

So…to my my great joy, the Lord blessed us with THREE gorgeous little girls.

But then the announcement came, a boy was on the way.

I just couldn’t wait to see how much fun it would be for my son to have his own son.

I had no idea how special Cole would be to all of us. And how much fun little boys can be!

He has the cutest personality. Seems like everything he does brings a smile to our faces.

He just adores his mom…but oh boy, his dad is truly his hero!

When Cole sees his daddy, he ready to pick us a ball and start to play.

You name the sport…Cole can do it, and does it with all his heart.

Yes…he loves football, soccer, basketball and now even golf. It won’t be long until Popsy will have him out on the course.

He makes us all so proud indeed!

And we all can’t get over how this gift from the Lord has changed our world. We sure love you Cole Dillon!

I Dreamed A Dream

OK ladies…I had the dream of all dreams! In it I was the owner of all of these beauties. Can you imagine? Too bad I had to wake up and realize it was just a dream.

Well…a girl can still dream… right? But, last weekend one dream did come true for me. My sweet friend, neighbor and fellow phototog Debra went went me to the Imaging USA Expo in New Orleans.

Talk about fun. We walked around and saw so many amazing booths, all filled with everything a photographer would need.

We also got to see several booths of company’s we knew and have worked with or would love to work with.

Of course I was tempted more then once to make a purchase or two. Oh they had the cutest camera straps at Adorama!

One of the last places we visited was Borrowed Lens. I really love this company. I’ve rented several lenses from them. Debra caught this precious expression on my son’s face when he saw how HUGE the lens on this camera was! He just could not get over it. In case you’re wondering, you can buy this lens for $10,000 dollars, or rent it for $250.00 a week. Not bad if you’re going to the Super Bowl or a safari in Africa!

Well…it’s now time to wake up!

Made With Love

Darcy over at Life With My 3 Boybarians is hosting a new project that is called Project 52. This is a 52-week photo challenge that I've decided to take this year. We will have a theme each week for this challenge.

It’s week # 2 and the theme is

“Made with Love”

While we were having lunch at the mall this past week, the kids were so excited to see the Build-A-Bear character walking around. So naturally they wanted to “Build-a-Bear!

The first thing they had to do was choose an un-stuffed bear from a very large selection. Decisions, decisions…

But finally they did, and now it was time to stuff them!

My favorite part of building a bear is the “heart ceremony”. Here the lady at the store that was helping them, was telling them to rub the heart, and make a wish!

And now the bear is filled with so much love!

Once she is stuffed and complete, it’s time for a quick bath!

Kayla named her bear Isabella.

And now the fun part, picking out a new outfit. So here is Isabella with her new dress and big smile!

Weekend at Grammy’s

Since the girls are not wild about bath time, I told them they could use the jets on the tub.

Well, it didn’t take long until the bath was filled with bubbles.

And the fun began. Time for Grammy to get her camera!

Then we were off to the mall where my little fashion diva’s are always ready to strike a pose.

The girls always have blast when they are together.

I will always remember these precious moments.

Christmas Day

Each year we go to my husband’s sister’s house for Christmas.

She has such a lovely home and has it decorated so beautifully!

We have tons of food and all year long everyone waits for the family’s favorite appetizer…Oyster patties!

We also celebrate my husband’s Christmas eve birthday!

While we were preparing to serve dinner, the kids had a blast playing their new Wii game…Just Dance 2.

Girls just love to dance!

Grammy also took some family photo’s. Kayla and her new doll.

Thought I’d join the holiday bokeh party!

Each year on the first weekend in December I gather with some of my closet friends and family for a Christmas luncheon.

Here I am with my dearest and faithful friend Cyndy. Gosh…we go back so many years. What a treasure she has been to me.

Everyone says my sister and I look like twins. So…what do you think?

My precious granddaughter Karli celebrated her 5th birthday with us. What a little doll!

She was so excited to blow out her candles. Make a wish!

I’m really going to work on getting everyone’s head in the picture next year! There was a lot of women to pose for this shot.

Of course Grammy wanted to get a few shots of the girls in their fancy party dresses. They were having so much fun.

And all they wanted to do was be silly! Oh well…sometimes these moments are the best memories of all.

I don’t think there is a season I enjoy more then fall. There are so many changes all around. A time to reflect and look back as the year draws to an end.

Truly a time to give thanks.

Giving thanks is a conscious decision we can make daily. When Paul wrote these words he was in prison and yet found reasons to give thanks.

No matter what you may be facing today, a thankful heart will always carry you through.

Spent a beautiful Sunday with my granddaughters.

After attending my niece’s baby shower the girls came home and were ready to play.

This past Saturday we were so excited to go our sweet granddaughter's soccer game.

Oh my, she really takes this game serious and is a very dedicated player for her team! The are called the Gator’s.

And Karli was a great cheerleader for her sister.

My sweet niece came over this weekend for a maternity shoot.

To say I was a bit nervous would be an understatement.

Now, I’m sure you will agree she is one gorgeous young mother to be.

And her sweet smile lit up every shot.

I just loved all the cute outfits she brought along for the shoot.

Yes, you can easily see the joy see is feeling about this little one on the way.

Yes, I just love everything about each one of them.

And one of my very favorite things is their laughter. For this Grammy, it truly is the best medicine!

I love their innocence and their love for Jesus. So pure and sweet.

And those beautiful eyes they flash at me. Oh my…my heart just melts every time!

It won’t be long before they are all grown up, and weekends with Grammy won’t be as fun. So…I will treasure every one of these special moments.

Zoo Trip

The kids were off of school last Friday so my sweet daughter in ♥ came out to visit for the day.

So we decided to take the children to the zoo! Oh my…Karli just loves animals.

We were off to one adventure filled day.

Now for their favorite part…the petting zoo. First thing in order was to do some grooming on the goats.

Karli was in her glory! She made a friend, and he really enjoyed her undivided attention.

Of course we had to have a few photos for for Grammy. I just love this one of Cole and his mommy.

And then it was time for a nice cool treat.

Now these girls have a blast when they are together!

They may be getting a little big for this stroller, but they managed to fit and had lots of fun.

And to end our perfect day we all took a ride on the train.

Better hurry Grammy, the train is getting ready to leave!

Giving Thanks…

I just have so much to be grateful for. The Lord has blessed me with such a wonderful family, friends and now my precious grandchildren! I’m grateful for my health, my children’s health, and for my son who is a brain tumor survivor! The list could go on and on. I’m just so grateful for so many things. One of my favorite quotes on gratitude is by Melody Beattie:

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.”

Shopping With Grammy

On Friday my granddaughter came over to spend the weekend.

So, on Saturday, her friend came over and off we went for a trip to the mall.

After raising five sons, all this “girly fun” has become a new tradition around my house these days.

We were so surprised to see the LSU Tigers ladies volleyball team at the mall. Oh my, the girls were thrilled to get everyone’s signature on their poster. Great start to our day.

Then we were off to do their favorite thing - trying on clothes. But first a pit stop in the make up department. Girls do have to have look just right for a big fashion show, right?

Look Grammy, a perfume named after me!

Now…the real fun begins. Time to try on a bunch of really pretty dresses. The dressing area was transformed to a runway.

It’s been a while since I posted pictures of some beautiful faces. This is my youngest granddaughter Karli. Those eyes…

This is my son Joseph. He came out and spent a few days with us to give his dad a hand on a project that needed finishing.

And during the week I got to meet and fall in love with this special little girl named Cherrie. She is the daughter of a friend of ours.

As you can see, I love hats, and I always have my camera ready to capture that perfect moment! Took these pictures on a recent trip to my ~~second home~~ the mall.

Looks like we got side tracked in the hat department!

And our new little friend caught on real quick.

After more shopping, a ride on the carousel and some Menchie’s yogurt, we headed home.

But the fun was not over yet! The next day it was time to play some more. Our neighbor’s daughter came over to hang out. Isn’t she precious?

This weeks’ challenge for Live Every Moment is “organic”. The first thing that came to mind were these organic apples I recently bought at Whole Foods.

This scrumptious and wonderfully delicious apples came all the way from Argentina!

I have never tasted a sweeter, crisper apple ever!

Sad to say when I went back to get more they were gone! Ugh… I was so disappointed. The season for for Argentinian apples is over.

But, all was not lost. I picked up some juicy ripe pears!

And these just hit the spot!

Summer Fun

Well, it’s been one jammed packed two weeks and now my grands are back in school. This makes for a sad Grammy. I’m missing them already.

Thought I’d share some photos of the memories we made.

Grace went to swimming lessons at our YMCA and made some really neat friends along the way.

We spent a little (OK…maybe a tad bit more than a little) time at the mall when the heat was just too unbearable, which was pretty often!

And my little “sweet tooth” Karli enjoyed some sizable treats on more than a few occasions! Well, maybe I spoil her just a little, but that’s what Grammy’s are for!

We rode the golf cart all around the neighborhood with Uncle Jordan !

And, we acted like tourist (sun glasses and all) and went to visit the “old” State Capital and learned some interesting facts about the history of Louisiana.

And posed for a few (did I say a few?) pictures along the way.

We blew plenty BIG bubbles.

And like all “big” girls we got to stay up way past our bedtime, and do silly fun things. But keep this part quiet, because we don’t our moms to find out about our secret!

We got all dressed up and went to our Aunt Megan’s wedding!

And Cole got to be his favorite Super Hero!

And Kayla even lost her 2nd tooth…

While we were out shopping. Yes, some of life’s most precious experiences can be those little things.

So now the summer is over, but it was memories like these that made the summer of 2011 one of the best summers we have ever had with Grammy!

Remembering Vicksburg

This past weekend my husband and I took a little get a way trip to Vicksburg, Mississippi.

We wanted to visit the famous Civil War battlefield where Gen. Ulysses S. Grant captured the city after a six week siege.

Over 20,000 Union and Confederate soldiers died in this battle.

The famous U.S.S Cairo was sunk in the battle and raised from the river 100 years later.

We learned some interesting facts in the Civil War Museum.

Ever wondered where this phrase came from?

Some things never change…only the price!

The Old Court House was built in 1858.

This weekend we went to see Cars 2. Finally a movie just for my grandson!

After the show I bribed my grands for a quick picture on these pretty stairs outside the theater.

And they did just great!

Now, I just adore my girls, but this little guy melts my heart every time!

OK, he’s a charmer, what can I say?

After the show, we took all the kids to Barnes and Nobles to read some books in the children’s section. Cole found a Cars 2 book, which made him very happy!

Grace and I made a quick shopping trip and found her a new backpack for school, which she was so proud to model for me.

Oh, what a great joy and delight it is to be a Grammy!

Enjoyed a very patriotic 4th of July celebration.

This is the flock of geese that live in our neighborhood pond. It was fun seeing them all together when we took our evening walk.

I don’t know where you live, but the thermometer on our patio testified that it was a “HOT” Fourth of July down here.

Oh, I just love fresh corn roasted on the grill!

And my husband is “King of the Grill”! He cooked up some of the most delicious steaks, sausage, and ribs. The son if a chef, and he can he ever cook! Thanks sweetie, I’m still stuffed.

Now inside, the temperature was just right, and my grandson’s smile made my day!

And I even got my sweet Kayla to put on this Stature of Liberty hat. I “pinky” promised this would NOT go on FB, but she didn’t say anything about my blog. Her reward was the picture below!

Yummy… A nice treat!

In the afternoon, we went down to the river to watch the reenactment of a WWII bombing raid over the USS Kid war museum.

It was so neat watching the vintage planes zooming in as guns were firing and bombs exploded in the river around the ship!

What a great day it was indeed!

A Whole Lot of Summer Fun!

What a great week we recently spent with our grands.

I just love the summer!

Here are a few highlights of some very special memories.

Grace took swimming lessons at the YMCA by our home. We went each day and she loved every minute. You can see how tan she is.

On the last day they practiced boat safety. Here is Grace going off into the pool. Little did she know they would flip the boat to teach the kids how call out for help and not to panic in a water emergency!

We met up with our neighbor and her kids for lunch. The children had so much fun together. When we were finished eating we took them all to the library to read.

Kayla was reading to Grammy, and she was really doing a very good job! Of course, when your mom is a teacher it helps a little.

Grace was so excited to read to Grammy as well!

A visit would not be complete without a shopping trip. The girls love to take a bunch of dresses into the changing room and then model them for Grammy.

Here is Kayla patiently waiting while her sister got her hair cut.

We had some rainy afternoons, but that didn’t slow the girls down very much.

And here is my very own Mary Poppins!

My sweet and very patient friend Debra came over and taught me how to use a few new textures. I decided to try them out on a shot I had recently taken of a teacup and flower . Thanks Deb for your help!

Friday Challenges

The theme for Live Every moment is farms. Although I’m a city dweller, I sure love the beauty of the country. Not far from where I live is some gorgeous farmland. I could not resist stopping the car and taking these a picture of the cows on this lazy summer day.

This watermelon patch took off from a single seed. Now its spreading all over. Simply amazing!

The theme this week over at Crazy Days of Summer is yellow. One of my favorite colors for sure. Doesn’t my grandson look great in yellow?

Had a great night out with the girls. They just love trying on clothes. I wish I was that enthusiastic!

And watching our children with their children.

It seems like yesterday Joel was just a little boy.

And now we are grandparents to these beautiful children.

Another blessing is my daughter in love who brightens up so many of my days.

What’s more fun then watching Uncle Joseph playing with his nieces in the pool?

I’m so grateful for the father of my children, and for all his has done to make our lives what they are today.

And spending time with cousins are always extra special.

And for all these things and much much more, I give thanks!

Took this shot while we were waiting for dinner. As you can tell the service was a tad bit s-l-o-w, but we had a nice night out anyway.

Took my granddaughter to the Y with me. She has a blast playing while I was in my exercise class.

My daughter in love came over with the kids so we could go swimming. So, now you get to see how beautiful the mother of my precious grand-children really is. Love you Kristin♥

Took a walk with my husband around our neighborhood. It was so interesting to watch the Purple Martin’s feeding their young.

Had an awesome day with my best buddy. After a wonderful meal, we did some shopping. Came home and enjoyed some more fellowship over a cup of tea. I treasure days like this.

Oh my, I just love, love,love cantaloupe. It was the sweetest one I’ve eaten so far this season. Yummy!

Over at Kelly’s Korner today there is link up for moms with special needs children. Although my son’s limitations were not physical and easily detected at first, the challenges we faced over the years were difficult.

It only seems like yesterday we got the call from our son’s kindergarten teacher for a parent conference. My sweet son was so excited to finally go to school like his big brothers. Jordan was our fourth son and such a sweet compliant child. We loved his teacher and knew she would be just perfect for him.

Mrs. M asked us a few questions about our son and preceded show us his work and her sincere concerns. The very next day we brought Jordan to the school board to be tested. I’ll never forget how shocked we were to hear the results of Jordan’s test scores and his dx of MMR.

Time stood still that day as tears filled my eyes. In only one day all our hopes and dreams for his future were suddenly changed. We were shocked and confused and had so many questions.

My son was placed in Special Ed and remained there throughout his time in school. Although learning came slowly for Jordan, loving and caring for others seemed natural for him.

At the age of 16 we were faced once again with some more devastating news. A brain tumor was found. Another major blow, but this time his very life was in the balance. We entered yet another world…childhood cancer.

Jordan was treated at St. Jude Children’s hospital in Memphis.

I’m here to tell you firsthand God was with us every step of the way. Two journeys we never dreamed of taking, yet both taught us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts. We watched God do miracle after miracle.

Today Jordan is 25, in remission, and is the joy of our lives. We would not trade one day of all we endured, and feel that it was and still is a privilege to be able to raise and care for a special needs child. His innocence, his love for people, and his huge tender heart has been his greatest strengths.

The poem “Welcome to Holland” perfectly describes what it is like to raise a special needs child. If you have not read this, please take a minute and do so.

I pray it encourages you in your journey. No matter what you are facing, with the Lord’s grace, loving friends, and family support you will make it. The rewards are unending.

I am often asked to describe the experience of raising a child with a disability - to try to help people who have not shared that unique experience to understand it, to imagine how it would feel. It's like this......

When you're going to have a baby, it's like planning a fabulous vacation trip - to Italy. You buy a bunch of guide books and make your wonderful plans. The Coliseum. The Michelangelo David. The gondolas in Venice. You may learn some handy phrases in Italian. It's all very exciting.

After months of eager anticipation, the day finally arrives. You pack your bags and off you go. Several hours later, the plane lands. The stewardess comes in and says, "Welcome to Holland."

"Holland?!?" you say. "What do you mean Holland?? I signed up for Italy! I'm supposed to be in Italy. All my life I've dreamed of going to Italy."

But there's been a change in the flight plan. They've landed in Holland and there you must stay.

The important thing is that they haven't taken you to a horrible, disgusting, filthy place, full of pestilence, famine and disease. It's just a different place.

So you must go out and buy new guide books. And you must learn a whole new language. And you will meet a whole new group of people you would never have met.

It’s just a different place. It's slower-paced than Italy, less flashy than Italy. But after you've been there for a while and you catch your breath, you look around.... and you begin to notice that Holland has windmills....and Holland has tulips. Holland even has Rembrandts.

But everyone you know is busy coming and going from Italy... and they're all bragging about what a wonderful time they had there. And for the rest of your life, you will say "Yes, that's where I was supposed to go. That's what I had planned."

And the pain of that will never, ever, ever, ever go away... because the loss of that dream is a very very significant loss.

But... if you spend your life mourning the fact that you didn't get to Italy, you may never be free to enjoy the very special, the very lovely things ... about Holland.

Memorial day. My oldest son and his beautiful wife came out for the day. I thought they all look so cute in the their matching colors. This called for a family shot.

My precious little Karli modeling her new bathing suit for me. She told me she was a ballerina. After a couple dances she was ready to play.

Took the Kids to a new water park that just opened in our area. Oh my, we all had a blast out there, and will be going back soon!

My hubby cutting the grass. This is the first time since his back surgery two months ago that he got on the mower. He’s come a long way. We are praying for a full recovery.

Took a walk in the neighborhood with my hubby this evening. I got all excited when I saw our shadows, which of course called for a picture!

After a long day out, we returned home to discover a storm had blown through our neighborhood and snapped off a very tall pine tree in our backyard. I’m so blessed we were gone and no one was injured. Praise God for all things!

For my sweet shot this week I choose my granddaughter catching her very first fish. Oh my, she was just beside herself! What a precious moment in time with her Popsy.

Our English word "worship" is derived from the Old English word "worthship."

It was a word that meant "worthiness" or an "acknowledgement of worth."

People today have given worth to all sorts of things and people, like money, appearance, position, power and talent—just to name a few.

But throughout Scripture, God is worshipped for His perfection (who He is) and His ways (what He has done).

It is God alone that is worthy of our worship! He shares His glory with no other.

May we always give Him the worship that He is due.

My sweet granddaughters did some beautiful artwork for my wall in the den. Kayla knows how much I love Hello Kitty so she surprised me with this picture. Oh I just love being a Grammy!

My nephew come over and brought us some awesome Louisiana Lake Pontchartrain soft shell crabs. My husband did a great job cooking these beauties up for dinner.

For my sweet shot this week I choose this picture of my precious granddaughter. Oh my, it doesn’t take much to get a great smile from Kayla!

My daughter in love came over with the children for the day. I’m so excited school is finally out. Now we’ll get to hang out and do some fun things during the week. We went to a neat little community park close to our house, and the kids had a blast playing in the water fountain.

Oh what an exciting day. Kayla lost her very first tooth! She was just beside herself, and couldn’t wait for the tooth fairy to come by that night. My little girl is growing up so fast.

Ever since we moved we have been waiting to have a garage sale. Finally the day arrived. The weather was beautiful, we met some wonderful people, and did much better then we ever expected. We boxed up all the left-overs and brought it to Good Will.

Had a wonderful day. After an incredible church service we grabbed a quick bite and came home. My husband pulled out his guitar and started playing it for me. It’s been awhile, and I’ve missed hearing that sweet sound in our home.

A Song of Praise!

Psalm 59 begins as David's cry to be rescued from his enemies. He asks the Lord to punish them because of their evil ways.

By the end of the psalm, however, David shifts his focus away from his enemies and towards God.

He remembers how God has protected him from danger in the past.

Thus he concludes this song of worship: "O my Strength, to you I sing praises, for you, O God, are my refuge, the God who shows me unfailing love" (59:17).

One thing I have learned through the years is that we are truly held by the Lord’s loving hands. To know Jesus as our strength is one of the most assuring things that brings us comfort in trying times.

His unfailing love has upheld me time and time again.

Oh what a joy and privilege it is to praise Him at all times!

Flower Power and vibrant color!

The theme of the meme’s for today is “flowers and vibrant color”.

Well, with summer already here, it’s easy to spot these kinds of things all around.

I bought these beautiful daisy's and have enjoyed them so much. There is just something about bright and cheery flowers.

This lone allium was blooming in our front garden. I just love the color purple.

Somehow this plant survived the cold winter this year and came back with these beautiful blooms.

For something vibrant I choose this picture of my beautiful granddaughter. It seems like yesterday she was cutting her first tooth, now her permanent teeth are coming in. Oh what a joy it is watching her grow up right before my eyes!

And finally this picture of my other granddaughter, sweet Kayla. Now…if that smile isn’t vibrant I don’t know what is? Gosh…I’m one blessed Grammy!

My darling grands hanging out at Grammy’s house. Oh how I love spending time with them. I thought I’d use this as my sweet shot of the week!

My son Jordan sitting outside the house waiting for our cat, he affectionately calls “Beezie”, to come in!

Decided to make an avocado salad for my hubby. This one was perfectly ripe! Hummm.

My granddaughter came over and was so excited to to spend some time playing with our neighbor’s daughter Kiki ! The girls love driving our golf cart around the cul-de-sac.

It was a “girls weekend” at Grammy’s. I took them for a ride to the pond and we hung out for some fun and of course a few photo’s.

What a busy and fun day we had on Saturday! We started off with a little finishing trip, and the girls had a ball learning all the tricks from Popsy. Then we headed over to the Relay for Life Celebration. The theme this year was “Remember - Fight Back”! We never take for granted the many battles my son Jordan has won as a survivor. Here he is with his cousin Stephen who came up for the weekend.

After morning church, we went out to eat. We came home and the girls had fun playing in the sprinkler. Summer has definitely arrived. The day ended with an awesome dinner with my neighbor and some new blogger friends.

Seeing the Big Picture!

I read this awesome devotion today and wanted to pass it on. I pray it speaks to your heart as it did to mine.

Sometimes God permits things, other times He actually plans them.

Either way, He's got a definite plan in mind. In the midst of unspeakable heartache, Job said, "He performeth the thing that is appointed for me."

When you realize that God has "appointed" something for you, it changes how you see it.

It's like flying. On the ground your view is limited, but ten thousand feet up everything looks different. Now you're seeing what God sees: "the big picture!"

The Bible says that after Job came through his trials he was blessed with twice as much as he had before (See Job 42:10). Does that mean if you lose a $30,000-a-year job you'll get back a $60,000-a-year one? Or that your checkbook will always balance, or your car never break down, or your health never fail?

No, sometimes God rewards our faith with things we can't measure in monetary value—like relationships, joy, character, peace you didn't have before, a fresh sense of purpose, protection from danger, favor with others, clearer understanding, more compassion, and intimacy with Him.

What value would you place on those?

I’m so blessed I can trust God to cause all things to work out for my good!!

This is a precious little bird house that has found it’s home at my daughter-in-love’s house. Her Granny gave this to her as a gift and was so surprised to find a little bird actually found a home in there!

While I was at the grocery, I spotted these beautiful tulips and thought they would look perfect in one of my tea pots.

Our good friends Jim and Cyndy came out to visit. Jim was such a blessing as he helped my husband out with some things he wanted to get done around the house, but was unable to do since his back surgery. Jim, you rock! We sure love you and Cyndy!

I just loved this cute little expression on my grandson’s face. He’s always smiling or laughing. He has the best personality! What more can I say, I’m smitten.

After 10 years of driving our van we finally traded it in for another car. Oh what a happy day! This is actually a used car, but it only had 16,000 miles, still under factory warrantee, and just immaculate. Talk about blessed!

For my sweet shot this week I choose this one of my granddaughter. Normally she’s laughing or smiling in all of her pictures. But I caught this sweet little moment. I just love those long lashes and big beautiful brown eyes!

My husband took this picture of us right before we left for church on Sunday. The pastor taught such an awesome Word, and then we enjoyed a wonderful lunch with he and his wife after church.

Project 365-St. Jude Visit

For my recap of this past week I thought I’d share some pictures we took while we were at St. Jude for my son’s check up visit.

We arrived in Memphis on Sunday. After putting our bags in our room, we headed to the cafeteria for a quick bite to eat. When you go in the hospital on the weekends you are given a visitors pass to wear.

Monday morning. All the little wagons are lined up down the hall waiting for their precious patients. Today is scan day for us. Nothing more to say!

Now the hard part. Waiting and praying as Jordan is in the back. My son is sedated for his MRI’s due to a movement disorder he developed after radiation.

There is all kinds of neat art on the walls that patients have made over the years. This is a mask like just like the one my son wore during his brain radiation treatments. It would take a teenage girl to come up with the idea of decorating hers to celebrate completing her treatment! We still have ours.

For my sweet shots this week I choose to share a few pictures of some really wonderful friends, both new and old, that we have made at St. Jude.

These adorable twin boys are a new family my son met on this trip. They loved spending time with Jordan.

It’s always great seeing our friends from Habitat for Hope. This beautiful young girl is a cancer survivor we met several years ago. Her parents decided to move to Memphis and start a wonderful foundation to help minister to critically ill children and their families.

This is my wonderful friend Dawn. She is Shae and Mason’s mom. I met Dawn through Caringbridge. Her son Shae was also patient at St. Jude.

Jordan and Mason. We had a wonderful dinner after a long day at the hospital. Time to celebrate a great report. All things are stable! We are so grateful and elated!

We also have to see a neurologist in Memphis who takes care of Jordans’ sleep disorder. Yep…the only office you’ll find in his treatment center has a bed in it!

With all the talk of the Mississippi river rising we took a ride out to see the river. This was a beautiful park area that is now completely covered with water.

Right before we left they began placing sandbags around all the doors at the hospital. We are praying they will not need them. Time is getting close for the river to crest.

Stopping by to take a look at the new statue they erected outside the hospital entrance. There are not enough words to express our deepest gratitude for the vision and work of Danny Thomas. We are only one of countless lives that have been touched by the research and treatment that is done at St. Jude!

I found this interesting flower in bloom while we were in Memphis this week!

I was so excited to come home and see lots of new growth all around. Our first tomato of the season. So nice and green.

I was surprised to find all the new growth on our sago palm. Wow…the wonders of life are truly so beautiful!

For Easter my husband blessed me with a beautiful yellow rose bush to plant in my garden.

Now how's this for the color green? They had this delicious mint Gelato at Kay’s Café in St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

A Fun day out!

This past Monday my hubby and I took our grands out for a day of fun. We decided to go downtown to visit the museum, only to find it closed.

So, the girls decided they would do some modeling for me in front of the Old State Capitol.

It was now around noon, and the sun was getting pretty hot.

So we kept walking until I found some shade under some beautiful oak trees.

Then girls then wanted to climb the levee to see the Mississippi River.

While taking their pictures, a nice lady passed by and offered to take a shot of us all together! How sweet.

Then it was off to the the mall to have lunch. The girls love trying on clothes so they picked out some beautiful dresses to try on.

Oh Grammy, we’ll pretend we are at the ball!

Once we got back home they were excited to play with some new chalk they got for Easter. So Popsy was drafted to help draw a hopscotch for them!

Yep, there’s nothing like a fun game of hopscotch to end a perfect day! “Be careful Kayla, you can’t step on the lines”.

Pretty In Pink!

After raising five sons, pink has become my official favorite color these days!

We see a lot of it around my house. If I must say, my granddaughters look just beautiful in pink. All shades of pink!

There is nothing like a “pink tea party”!

Pink bows and shirts!

And I just love pink boas!

And now when Grammy shops for toys and shoes, well…pink is the only way to go!
