A Miracle in the Dome!

wfw-2008

Welcome to Word-filled Wednesday.

It's such a joy to be your hostess today!

The purpose of WFW is share God's word (no famous quotes or literature...only the word of God)

The home of WFW is at Amy’s 160 Acre Woods.

ForWFW3

I don't think anyone could ever forget those terrible images of the New Orleans' Superdome after the ravages of Hurricane Katrina five years ago.

It became the symbol of pain and suffering for the 30,000 refugee that fled to the dome as a shelter of last resort to escape the flood waters that overwhelmed the city.

Refurbished and alive once again, the Superdome is now a hub of delight in a city that still needs a daily dose of hope as it still struggles to recover from this disaster.

This past Sunday we witnessed a miracle in New Orleans as the Saints won the 2009 National Conference Championship, and a trip to the Super Bowl for the first time in their 43 year history.

Although the dome won't bring back jobs, homes, or the many lives that were lost in that horrible storm, it does brings joy and hope to the spirit of the city!

Go Saints - All the way to a Super Bowl victory!

Who dat say dey gonna beat dem Saints?

  1. I love seeing the enthusiasm you NOLA's have for your team! It's a lot like where I live in Canada with our football team - we bleed green! :)

  2. Blessings Susan... Great verse for your SUPER BOWL TEAM! Since I'm not a football game (lover or fan even) for any team... I'll root for your home team and to say they deserve it...
well, it'd be such a blessing! Such a spirit booster...just that they made it this far shows as there is victory after the defeat! Looking at this verse, giving their triumph to God, certainly makes the SAINTS a great contender to receive & bring home that "gladness" and lift their arms in praise to God who makes all things possible!

It's nice to see your 5 sons have not influenced or rubbed off on you at all (lol)... waiting for more MIRACLES! Thankful that we have God's WORD to stand on for our victory is WON! (Could that be a sign? since their name is Saints?)

  4. That's a very apt verse! Though we don't have football or superbowl where I live, I can still say an emphatic amen! That is indeed a mighty thing.
    I'm sharing mine here.

  6. Hope there's one more left!
Praying for your family right now.
Psalm 62:5-8 My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.

  9. I will be the first to admit that I am not a big football fan. And, I am from New England...
But wouldn't it be wonderful if they won!!! If the Red Sox and the Patriots can do it so can the Saints!

  10. I have to confess, I am not big on sports. But every so often, something special in sports comes along to inspire and encourage us, and this is definitely one of those times. Love the verse and photo! :)

  11. Susan, great reminder! I had forgotten all about the dome until you reminded me of it. It again reminds us that God restores what the locusts have eaten. He restores what the enemy tries to destroy!!!

On Bill O'Reilly last night, I found out the amazing story of your quarterback. (OK- hope it's YOUR team's! :) ) How doctors had told his mother to get an abortion and she refused. Focus on the Family is going to run an ad celebrating her decision. Which of course has all the pro-choice people outraged. Oh, how I love God uses people (even quarterbacks) for His glory!!! Kurt Warner (another awesome quarterback) is from Iowa and is also a Christian.

I'll be watching the Super Bowl this year to root for those Saints!!!!

    Love ya!

  12. That was some exciting game!

God can take a seemingly despirate situation and turn it for good. After the destruction and despair from Katrina, things seemed pretty hopeless, but with God there is hope!

For some reason I had it in mind you lived in Florida - now I know you are my "next door" neighbor.

    Blessings and joy!

    Joan

  14. As I watched the game, I was thinking similar things re: what God has done in your city.

However.... I'm not too pleased at the outcome of the game (as I'm a vikings fan).

But, I will rejoice with you for what God is doing and has done in that city.

  17. Love that verse. Just when you think it's hopeless God steps in and does great things to strengthen us. I'm not a sports fan either but will pray for the Saints. A good name, by the way, we are all Saints of God who have accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior and one day we (the Saints) will go marching in to Heaven. What a glorious time that will be.

Thanks for being our hostess this week.

  26. Know that I'm here praying right now.
Psalm 23:1-3: The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

  27. Praying right now!
Psalm 23:4-6 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
