An Enduring Love

KellyShowUs

Traditionally my husband and I do not usually celebrate “Valentine's Day” on the day itself.   love3by lauraann

Too many crowds, too much hype, and so much commercialism.

However, don't let me convey the message I do not care about receiving flowers, cards, or a great big box of chocolate candy.

I'm not giving that up for sure.  We just choose to celebrate our love in a more peaceful and relaxed way.

IMG_2730 Last night we decided to watch a movie together.  Snuggled up on the couch, a fire burning, two seasoned lovers just enjoying time together.

This coming Sunday will be our 33rd Valentine’s Day celebration together, and I really could never ask for more because God gave me his best for me.

Ladies, my advice to you is to let down your expectations for this day, and just enjoy the one you love.  Give what you desire and watch what God will bring back to you.  IMG_2874

Therefore, today I dedicate this post to the man of my dreams, the father of my five sons, and now grandfather to my three beautiful granddaughters and one future linebacker, Cole Dillon.

Father, how can I thank you for answering my first prayer after salvation to send me a Christian friend?  You gave me more then my heart's desire.  Teach me to be the godly wife and mother you have called me to be.  Be glorified in our marriage, as we become a reflection of you and your bride, the church.  Let our love be lived out loud for all to see.  May you always be pleased with our service to you.  In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

♥Happy Valentine’s Day!♥

Giving Thanks

Love6

I just wanted to take a minute to thank my wonderful friend Tonya for that touching post she made on my blog today!  God truly united our hearts several years ago at St. Jude.

When I looked for a scripture today this one came to mind. “How precious is your steadfast love, O God…” Ps. 37:8.  Yes God’s love for us is so precious, and He puts special people in our lives to reveal His love in even greater ways.  For this I am so grateful.

Thanks to all of you for your many words of love and encouragement.  I pray I can also be a conduit of that same special love back to you in some way!

Monday2

Started out my week having lunch with a sorority sister from my college days at LSU.  It was so good to catch up and reminisce about those good ole days!

Tuesday2

The day I’ve been waiting for so long.  Beth Moore’s new book was released.  Looking forward to going through this book with my daughter-in-love and all my fellow siesta’s!

Wednesday2  Celebrated my birthday a little early with my dear friend Cyndy.  Nothing like a nice cup of hot tea with a great friend.

Thursday2

Took my grand-daughters shopping.  Karli wanted to push Grammy’s basket.  I had to guide her down the isles, but she did it!

Friday2

My grand-daughter Grace slept over.  After getting home from a grocery trip she fell fast asleep on the sofa with her little LOVE bear by her side.

Saturday2

Getting ready for our big Super Bowl party.  There were Who Dat’s every where.  We were so excited and nervous too!

Sunday

Sweet Victory!! The Saints are the WORLD CHAMPIONS! Now, it just doesn’t get any better then this.

WHO DAT? NOBODY!

super bowl xliv

Years from now, when the memories of Sunday begin to fade, New Orleans Saints fans will still remember where they were when cornerback Tracy Porter intercepted Colts quarterback Peyton Manning and returned the ball 70 yards for the decisive touchdown of Super Bowl XLIV.

We are just so proud of our boys!!

What’s In Your Hands?

wfw-2008

Hands

There is one thing that God has given equally to all of us everyday…time.   Time is something we can use in helping others or lose on so many missed opportunities.

A listening ear,

A shoulder to  cry on,

A ride to the store,

A phone call just to say “Hi”,

An unexpected gift,

A visit to a friend going through a difficult time,

A card that says, “I care and I’m thinking of you”!

Time is truly in your hands.  Invest it well.

“Lord, help me to see what you want to put in my hands today.  Let me be sensitive to the Holy Spirit when He says, “Go”.  Thank you for your outstretched hands that have touched me, healed me, and cared for me in so many ways.  May I be your hands touching someone in the very same way.”
