Project 365- My Week In Pictures

Had a really great week with my grand-children!  They kept me very busy and smiling a lot.  I love this season in my life!

Please join us over at The Mom Creative for more awesome Projects this week!

Sunday2

Caught our cat stretching out in our backyard.  He looks like the king of the jungle here!

Tuesday2

My granddaughter Grace came out to spend a few days with us.  The neighborhood girls love when she is at our house.  There is always a lot of fun things to do at Grammy’s house.

Wednesday2

Took the girls to mall for lunch and play time.  Now, Grammy never leaves home without her camera!

Thursday2

After spending time in the pool the girls were singing a song for me.  I love watching them play together.

Friday3

My granddaughter Karli came over to visit.  She was so proud to wear her new head band and flower.  I can just get lost in those beautiful eyes.

Saturday2

Although Cole has two older sisters, he is ALL boy for sure.  Just give him a ball, and he’s ready for fun.

Sunday4

My son and my hubby had a crawfish broil for the family and some friends.  Lots of hard work and preparation to cook up those mud bugs, but it sure paid off.  A great day for everyone!

In the midst of receiving some disappointing news at St. Jude last week, (changes in my son's scans),  I came upon this devotional that encouraged me so much.  No matter what we may be facing in life, we can rise above the circumstances, and be the “great” men and women the Lord has purposed for us to be.

The Bible says that Naaman was a “great…man, but a leper.”

Naaman had a problem, a unique one.  In recalling this story Jesus said, “Many lepers were in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, and none of them was cleansed except Naaman” (Lk. 4:27 NKJV).

God was about to make Naaman  a “greater man” through his time of testing. Whenever God is going to take us to another level, He often permits us to get into predicaments without any human solutions.

When He wants us to have greater influence, He often permits us to face greater challenges.

Before you can be exceptional, you must first work to develop a faith that can believe God for the impossible, and trust what He says regardless of the odds.

We must stop focusing on the problem and start focusing on God.

In the face of all the odds, Naaman believed God, and received his miracle. How about you?  (By Rick Godwin)

Took this picture after church on Sunday.  My grand-daughter just loved her new hat and wanted to model it for me.  She is so much fun to photograph.  She told  me, “Grammy you can take two pictures…no more, even if they are blurry!”

Welcome to my week in pictures.  So glad you stopped by!  For more Project 365 please visit The Creative Mom.

Sunday2

We arrived in Memphis for my son’s 6 month check up at St. Jude, our home away from home.   A week filled with doctor appointments and hope for another good report.

  St Jude 2010

On Monday night many of the patients were treated to a wonderful dinner at Benihana’s.  The restaurant was closed to the public as they entertained the families from St. Jude.  They also presented St. Jude with a check for $24,000.00 for a fundraiser they had just completed!

Tuesday

Met with one of our dear friends, Dawn .  She is also a St. Jude mom.  It’s always such a treat to get to see her and her son Mason.  We love you Dawn!

Waiting for Jordan’s eye and hearing test.  A long day in clinic.  Met some old friends, and made some new ones.

Testing at st jude

The big day.  This was supposed to be Jordan’s last 6 month check up before he was moved to ACT Clinic and start coming for check-ups yearly.  However, there were some unexpected changes in the size of his tumor and we’ll have to go back in 6 months to scan once again.  News that we were not really prepared to hear.  Please pray with us that everything will be OK at our next visit!

Friday

My son and daughter in love had some meetings to attend for the weekend and asked us to watch the girls. Oh, that was music to my ears.  Thought this shot of Karli was extra special.  Love, love, love spending time with them. Just what I needed as a distraction.

Saturday

We bought a little pool for the girls to play in.  It was such a hot day.  My little model is always ready to smile for her Grammy!

Sunday

Took the girls to church on Sunday and out to lunch.  We had such a wonderful day together before we returned them back to mom and dad.

His Masterpiece

wfw-2008

potter7

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10 NLT

Each day we can respond to the opportunities God places before us. Not opportunities to be famous, powerful, or rich, but opportunities to glorify Him. These opportunities will often be found amidst the ordinary days, and routine moments of our lives.

Today, God may give you the opportunity to manifest an attitude that reflects what He thinks and feels; to perform an action that expresses what He wants to do in a certain situation; to share words that speak His heart and His truth into someone’s life; to express kindness that extends His grace and mercy to someone in need.  (Devotional by: Roy Lessin)

I received this devotional last month and have been mediating on it ever since.  I do want to be a vessel that brings glory and honor to Jesus each day. I know I may fall short of that target, but I am still determined to make it my life’s goal.

I pray to be more sensitive and discerning when opportunities are given to me to glorify Jesus.  What an awesome privilege it is to show the world how great and powerful our loving Heavenly Father truly is.

Father, here are my hands; please work through them as I yield myself to you. Here is my voice; speak your words through me as I follow your prompting. Here are my feet; guide them in the paths of righteousness as I obey your leading. Here is my heart; fill it with a love that bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things.

May You be glorified in every trial I face or decisions that I make each day.  Help me to be the masterpiece you predestined me to be. I give all the glory and honor to you.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Sweet Shot Tuesday

Relay

There could be no sweeter shot for me, then to see my son, Jordan, as he took his “Survivors Lap” this past Saturday at the 2010 Relay for Life!  He is a brain tumor survivor. He was dx at the age of 16.

It’s been a long journey that I never dreamed we would take, but one that has changed our lives for the better.

Be cheerful no matter what; pray all the time; thank God no matter what happens. This is the way God wants you who belong to Christ Jesus to live.

Monday

My precious little Karli came over to her Grammy’s house for a visit.

Tuesday

My husband got tickets to the LSU baseball game.  My oldest son, Jason, was supposed to go with him, but was activated by the National Guard to help with the oil spill clean-up in the gulf.  So, he asked me to join him instead.  Great date night!

Wednesday

Took the girls to the movie, to see “Alice In Wonderland”.  A little strange…but good.  They enjoyed it, and had their little purses filled with snacks!  Nothing like a girls night out.

Thursday

Oh, how I enjoy going to the bookstore.  I especially like this one; the hot chocolate is so good.  I sat and just read and read.

friday2

My oldest sister Mary and I celebrated Mother’s Day early this year.  We had such a nice dinner and time of fellowship.  She reminds me so much of my mom!  Thank God for sisters!

Relay for Life 2010!  My daughter in law worked so hard along with her students to sponsor a booth, and make this Relay extra special for Jordan.  Thanks Kristin.  It was a time to honor those who are won their battles and those still in fighting.  We must never give up the fight until we find a cure!

Sunday

Mother’s Day!  What a special day it was indeed.  Went out with my family and enjoyed an awesome steak dinner.  One of the highlights this year was a beautiful bouquet of flowers from my 19 year old.  He’s not one to say a lot, but these flowers and the beautiful card he gave me with them touched me deeply.  I thank God for all five of my boys.
