“God is…a very present help in trouble.” Ps 46:1
Randy Reid, a thirty-four-year-old construction worker, was welding on top of a nearly completed water tower outside Chicago.
According to writer Melissa Ramsdell, Reid unhooked his safely gear to reach for some pipes when a metal cage slipped and bumped the scaffolding on which he stood.
It tipped, and Reid lost his balance. He fell 110 feet landing face down on a pile of dirt, just missing rocks and construction debris.
A fellow worker called 911. When paramedics arrived they found Reid conscious, moving, and complaining of a sore back. Apparently the fall didn’t cost Reid his sense of humor.
As paramedics carried him on a backboard to the ambulance, Reid had one request: “Don’t drop me.” (Doctors later said Reid came away from the accident with just a bruised leg.)
Sometimes we resemble Randy Reid. God protects us from harm in a 110-foot fall, yet we are not willing to trust Him to get us over the next two-foot hurdle.
What’s the answer? “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
Note the words “very present.”
When we hit life’s rough spots our tendency is to feel abandoned, yet the opposite is true. At that very moment we are more than ever the object of His love and concern. (By Rick Godwin)
Yes, even when our vision is blurred, our thinking foggy, our faith fleeting, and we look up and can’t see Him clearly—He is “very present.”
Thank you Lord for always being there, even when we have our doubts, fears and worries. I’m so grateful to know you are truly very present. Make yourself known to all who are struggling today. In Jesus name, amen.

Wow, so awesome to truly think about!
Loved both the picture and your devotional -- very encouraging, and so true!
Susan, great word of wisdom and counsel. Thank you for sharing that story too. I think I'm in a similar place when I need to be reminded of this.
Blessings,
Debbie
How great is our God! So true that despite God's track record of protection and provision, we often that He'll come to our aid in our present situation.
Hello my dear!
What a perfect Word for today! I've just been burdened by the news of so many hurting friends and family at every turn...this is encouragement; such encouragement!
love you friend!

This hits home for me . . . On Monday, I wrote about God being in the dark places. He is present even when we can't see or feel Him. Praise Him!
Great word Susan! Love the story. God is "very present". He never leaves us nor forsakes us. Blessings on your day Susan!
That story is priceless! "Don't drop me." Yes, definitely a message for me!
Thank you and bless you
Thank you for sharing this. I love the verse but the story is awesome.
Blessings!
Wow, Susan. This is exactly what I needed to hear today. Really. The reminder that God is ever present is just what I needed. Thank you.
interesting story, we actually had a guy at work do something like this and land on his feet like a cat, of course he didn't come away so free from it! :(

Happy WFW!!! Amen and Amen!
Please join me on Pursuit of Titus 2 for a blog party that you can not miss!!! I am hosting a True Woman Manifesto Blog Party courtesy of Revive Our Hearts with Nancy Leigh Demoss. Please, I encourage you to link up with this blessed event. Click the link below to find out more and I hope to see you ALL there! May God Bless you!!! It is time for us as women to embrace our Biblical role as women, wives and mothers according to Titus 2 and Proverbs 31...We need to take back what the feminist movement tried to start in destroying our Biblical roles and get back to what GOD said through HIS word! I Hope to see you there!

What a great, inspiring story, Susan ... it really hit home with me this morning.
Hope your WFW is blessed!
All of the verses I've seen so far seem to link together. God really loves us. Why can't unbelievers see that?

Susan ... again I want to thank you for visiting my blog. Of course, I came to see yours and what a timely message for me. It was one of those "God's talking directly to me" moments. What a lovely place to visit. I pray God continues to bless you.
This scripture combined with the picture really make an impact on our belief in God being with us in all kinds of storms. I so agree with your prayer today, and may we trust Him to keep His Word!
Blessings to you,
Laurie
what a crazy story! Helps you know that even when you feel like you have fallen that far you can be ok if you have the right Man in your corner!
One of my favorite inspirational and encouraging Bible verses!!! And such a great photo for it. Thank you for a blessed Word-Filled Wednesday! :)
We are face storms in life. So good to know the Lord is present in our midsts. Thanks for a great post!
That is just beautiful, Susan.
Wow...good, good, good! I loved so much in this devotional. We'll talk later. ;)
Love,
Kristin
I'm so thankful for that!!!! Amen!
Such comfort in this verse.

Hi Susan,
Oh how true those words are. We can trust God for the big things, but when we go through the smaller trials or the daily grind, we forget to turn to Him. A great post.
And thank you for stopping by my place. I don't think I got everything right for the Wednesday Photo Devo. Will do better next time.
From My Heart to Yours,
Janis
Great post and a great promise to cling to! Thanks for the reminder that God is a "very present" help, no matter if we cannot see Him clearly.
PRaise God He is ever present! Friends sometimes come and go, but we know that He is always there! :D
Thank you for sharing!
Have a great day!
Sherry
Amen , He is my refuge & strength !
Blessings,

What amazing words of comfort! Praying!
Revelation 21:1-4 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
