St. Jude- Giving Thanks!

The last week of August my husband and I went to St. Jude with my son for his 3 month check.

For those of you who don’t know, Jordan is a brain tumor survivor.

w IMG_7945_filtered

He was treated at St. Jude 7 years years ago, and continues to beat all the odds.

w IMG_7924_filtered

For this we give thanks daily!

We are from Louisiana and had a visitor heading our way during that very week we were at St. Jude.  His name was Hurricane Isaac!

w IMG_8074_filtered

Because of the storm, my son, daughter in love and family came up to stay with us in Memphis.

(These flags represent the countries of the children treated at St. Jude)

They have been wanting to visit St. Jude for some time, and this was the perfect opportunity.

Jordan loved the company of having his two nieces with him while we were in Memphis.

St. Jude is one amazing place of hope!

Did you know that September is the Childhood Cancer Awareness month?

w IMG_7966_filtered

On average, 46 kids are diagnosed with pediatric cancer…Every. Single. Day.  And 7 more will die from it!  Those are alarming statistics!

w IMG_7983_filtered

These were the kinds of things we were never aware of until we heard those dreadful words 8 years ago, “Your son has a brain tumor!”.

w IMG_8020_filtered

But for now we can celebrate the great news that everything is stable, and we don’t need to go back until February.

Thank God for the vision Danny Thomas had and the promise he made.

On September 24th Chili’s will donate 100% of their profits nationwide to St. Jude.  Please join us for a night out to have dinner, and at the same time help support this great cause to raise funds for research.  We must find a cure!

First, it is great to "see" you again!

Glad to hear he got clean reports again and that family was able to join you and get away from Isaac.

I will put the 24th on my calendar. Sounds like a great date night!

So happy for your son, you, and your family. I know how wonderful those annual visits are once they're over. My daughter is a cancer survivor too. Cancer doctors, nurses, therapists and everyone who helps fight the battle are angels! Beautiful photos capturing the happy annual visit!

The lead up to these visits must be filled with such anxiety - what a relief you don't need to return until February. The photo of the flags , along with your description, is very emotive.

I'm so glad he had a good check up. And Chili's is one of our favorites. I'll have to mark it on the calendar!

Finally an update!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So thankful that things are stable! Assuming everything was okay when you all got back home?
We only need one refuge in the storms of life! Praying!
Psalms 46:1-5 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.

What an amazing story, and such an awesome collection of photographs to tell it. I'm so happy for you and your son, and getting good news. My oldest son has a traumatic brain injury from a car accident. He had a long road to recovery. I understand your pride and relief that your son is there to help you celebrate life! You have such a beautiful family, and that is the greatest gift of all!

Hello there,
Hope your summer was full of fun and sunny days with the family.

So glad to hear your son is doing well and staying healthy. I pray it stays that for a very long time. Thank you for informing us about St. Jude and Chili's and the support we can do to help. It's so sad to hear of any child with an illness, how tough it is for them and their families. How wonderful that you got to have your family with you on this trip. The photos and words you shared were beautiful. Keeping you and yours in my thoughts and prayers!! HUGS!

p.s. Made me smile to see you and hubby in the last picture, how cute you two are together!!

I'm so glad you stopped by my blog today! I was just thinking about you last week and wondering how Jordan was doing. If I remember correctly, you didn't get the news you were looking for on your last visit. It sounds like you got better news this time. So glad for that! Take care and thank you for the update.

What a blessing to hear that Jordie is stable, God makes a way when there seems to be no way. Yahweh Rapha - I am the Lord that healeth thee. Amen. To think that so much time has gone by since we first met, only proves that God is in it and had His divine eternal heartbeat of friendship for us in it. I love your blog of thanksgiving, such praise and adoration so glorifies the Lord! Our love and prayers to all A,atos ;) Suzette and Emmanuel

What a nice surprise - finding a "family" update on your St. Jude trip. Great timing for support and group celebration of Jordan's great results. Worry break until Febrary right? Makes for carefree shopping for the holidays! Was it my imagination or did Jordan's smile actually seem brighter with his fan club a bit larger than usual? Thanks for the picture visuals of Jordan helping Danny Thomas' legacy shine:=) on! XXOO-Love-Rand & "the boys" (who don't really need an excuse to eat out - but love that i always request they put that bill on our charge:=)

Our only true hope is in the Lord! Praying!
Romans 15:4, 13 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. (13) Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

These verses offer such great comfort! Praying!
Job 19:25-27 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.
