In Other Words

1Peter 2:21 – “To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example that you should follow in his steps.” (NIV)

God calls believers to live out a life of example for others. While many people learn about Christ from what they read or hear, many more learn by example. So, it becomes so important that we act out our faith in all areas of our lives.

There are many ways we can show the love of God, and today I'd just like to use 2 examples that stand out to me.

The first would be to manifest the fruit of the Holy Spirit in our lives. In Galatians 5:22-25 (NTL) says:

"But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. "

The next area that I believe critical to living a life that would cause this earth to be like "God's paradise" would be that we would determine (key word here) to respond to others mistakes with the same forgiveness that God has so graciously given to us. A great example would be found in Galatians 6:1 where it says:

"Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself."

Gosh, I know this can be so hard at times, and I'm so guilty of not being so gentle and humble. But my prayer is that I would have the eyes and mercy of Christ as I journey on the path He has laid before me.

Lord, help me be a reflection of your great love today and everyday you grant me here on earth.

AMEN!!! If we can live with that gentleness and humility that Christ had, what a world we could create...
Thank you so much for sharing this week, it's so neat to choose a quote and see how others respond to something that has touched you...

Peace and Blessings!

I think God honors our desire to be like Him and even though it is hard and we fail, He still shines through our lives to those around us.
