I Will Not Be Moved

Aswim

After many years of dealing with the aches and pains associated with back problems, I finally gave in decided it was time do something about my many limitations.

It seemed like whenever I would attempt to start exercising to strengthen my back, it always resulted in a set back where I was in more pain.

The feeling of frustration quickly lead to defeat, and then this brutal cycle would start over. I wondered how could I ever get back in shape if I couldn’t even do some basic exercises? I wanted more then anything to be able to enjoy all the things I used to do before I injured those lower discs.

I was determined to find a solution.

Then a few weeks ago I made the decision to try once again.  Only this time, I would have to make some very bold moves behind my declaration.

I joined the local YMCA.

Please join me over at The Cafe to hear what happened next!

Hi Susan, thanks for stopping by, I went over to the Cafe and read your post. I was thinking to myself, this women is a mature christian with a beautiful heart and a talent for writing. I have really been blessed by your posts.
Good for you to join the YMCA! I pray you will be able to reach your goals. I live in a rule area so I bought myself and eliptial trainer, armed my self with a boom box and a pile of worship cds and am on the same quest as you are with some weight loss goals in there too. It has been chuch a wonderful time of worship and restoration for me .....I put my trainer out on my deck and crank up my music.right now I'v been listening to Selah, I love them. I live in a canyon and the view from my deck is incredable. I will get a picture and post it for all to see...and drool! LOL just kidding
It is beautiful and a wonderful way to start the day
Blessings

This post has been really encouraging to me! I have some degenerated discs in my lower back and have had the same problem as you.....every time I try to exercise to strengthen my back it hurts it so much that I have to stop even walking! Which seems to defeat the purpose!

My daughter gave me a free month at the local fitness center and I am trying to get up the nerve to go down there! They do have a pool and they have water aerobics for ladies a few times a week. Maybe that's what I need!

God bless!

Unbelievable... swimming every single day? I'm so inspired!!!

And I say AMEN to this: "It may often mean that you will have to launch out of your comfort zone, and press on to win that personal race. Never forget that it will not be vain. Taking care of our physical bodies is only illustration of the much higher calling we have to take care of the things of Christ."

Bless you Susan, and thank you for such an encouraging post. (((Hugs)))

Trying to get caught up...Praying right now.

When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found,
Clothed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne!
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
The Lutheran Hymnal #370, verse 4

Sometimes things hit out of nowhere and we don't know how we can handle it. The Lord's known from all eternity every thing that's going to happen and has been preparing a way.
Know that I'm here praying!
Isaiah 65:24 And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

Hey Susan!
I just jumped over to see what you have been up to, but since I am late, I couldn't find the post you wrote about the YMCA on the cafe site. That will teach me not to check in more often! :)

Anyway, you will love the YMCA. I don't know how many are in your area, but Alex and I Y-hop all the time b/c each one is so unique. If you ever want to come check out ours, just holler. I do hope that you find relief for your back pain. I struggled with sciatic pain for several years, but it disappeared when I went to Massage School. Maybe yours will respond to all that the Y has to offer!

I read your bio on the cafe site and I had no idea that you have a Bronx accent. I always "hear" your Southern accent...isn't that funny, since we have never met?
Thanks for your faithful blogging...you are inspiring!
