Show Us Your Life-Collections

KellyShowUs

This is a new meme I recently joined and I’m having so much fun with.  Kelly’s Korner is a blog I’ve really enjoy visiting.  If you haven’t been there yet, you must stop by and visit!

The theme for this week is “Show us your collection”.

When I was engaged to my husband my mother brought me this adorable “Precious Moment” figurine.  Way back then they were called “Johnathan & David”.

IMG_4454

What drew me to these figurines was not only they were cute, but I loved the message that was written underneath each one.

It seemed like had one for every occasion in your life, the happiest times and even during your struggles.

It’s been over 33 years since I began my collection and behind each one is a very special story.  Here are a few of my favorites.

IMG_4456

My mom brought this one to me when she visited me in the hospital after the birth of my firstborn son, Jason.  It says, “The hands that rock the future”.  I’ll cherish this forever.

IMG_4465A dear friend gave this one to me after I helped her through a very difficult time in her life.  It says  “You are always there for me”.

IMG_4463My daughter-in-love gave this one to me for my birthday.  I was so touched that she picked this one out for me.  It says, “Charity begins in the heart”.

I could post so many more, but I think you can see why these figurines are so very dear to my heart.  Its more than a collection to me, its a lifetime of precious memories.

A Not To Do List!

wfw-2008

I recently read a quote by Robyn Coffman that made me stop and think about what she was saying:

“Clutter isn’t only what you can see; it’s what you can’t see. It perpetuates your overloaded schedule, endless commitments and overwhelming fears. A cluttered mind means over-thinking, over-reacting, over-analyzing, over-worrying, and over-committing.”

Most of us can identify with the need to de-clutter our lives.  I believe as we do, we are less burdened down and begin to experience more of the abundant life that Jesus promised to us.

Today I would like to offer a few suggestions on how you can start your own "Not-to-do" list.

  • Not to feel guilty for saying “no” to something that may be OK, but is not right for you at this particular time.
  • Not to feel like you need to have all the answers to everyone’s problems.
  • Not to feel responsible for everybody else’s well-being.
  • Not to say “yes” just because you were invited.
  • Not to buy something just because it is on sale.
  • Not to think you have to cook a big meal, do laundry, clean the house, and spend quality time with your family all on the same day.
  • Not to mull over or become burdened down with other people’s mistakes.
  • Not to compare yourself to others.

I think you get the idea. The more you give yourself permission “Not-to-Do” so many things, the more you will free yourself to live a more balanced and abundant life.

I’ve got a long way to go, hopefully you’ll join me on this quest!

Project 365-My Week in Pictures

ProjectLifeTuesdayButton

What a great week I had.  My grands were out of school, and I got to see them all, several times.  Oh, the joys of being a grandmother.

Monday3

These guys mean so much to me.  Jason my firstborn, Joel the baby and my awesome husband that I just can’t live with out adore.  As you can see, they are all big Saints fans.  In case you are unaware, there are also 3 more boys sandwiched in between these two not in the picture!

Tuesday3

My little Karli!  This is my youngest grand-daughter who just turned three.  She’s so tiny but has a huge heart and the cutest personality.  She keeps her mommy busy for sure!  She picked these flowers for her “Brammy”.

Wednesday

Would you like a cup of tea Grammy?  Grace Kelly, my oldest grand-daughter loves playing games with me.  Girls are so much fun!

Thursday3

Now, how could anyone resist those gorgeous eyes?  Just look at him and this cute expression.  My little Cole is so adorable.

Friday

Kristin came out to spend the day and as always, we took the kids to “Grammy’s Mall”.  We all had a great time making wonderful memories.

Chuck E Cheese

Amy, over at One Bubble Bath at the Time, came over for dinner Friday night.  We had a blast.  It’s so much fun spending time with your bloggy friends, in person.  The next night she asked if my son Jordan could baby sit for her.  My grand-daughters were already spending the night, so we decided to take them all to Chuck E. Cheese!  We had a great time winning all those tickets.  You would think the kids won the lottery!  Amy, your boys are adorable, polite and so much fun.  Jordan is crazy about them!  (So are we!)

Sunday3

Took the girls to feed the ducks at the pond in our neighborhood.  What a beautiful sunny day it was.  Starting to feel a little like Spring!

Project Life Tuesday

ProjectLifeTuesdayButton

It’s Project Life Tuesday, another week has flown by!  I’m so thankful for all these wonderful memories.

Monday2

Had to return something at Steinmart today.  As I was walking through the store I spotted this precious teddy bear.  Don’t you just love what it says? It is so true.  So grateful for all the special friends God has brought into my life.

Tuesday2

Celebrated my 29th birthday with my sweet sister Mary.  Had a great day shopping all over town.  I’m so blessed to have such an awesome family.

Wednesday2Found my grandson’s pacifier while looking for an ink pen today.  Oh…it just made me miss his sweet little face.

Thursday2Movie night with my hubby.  My brother  sent me Taking Chance as a birthday gift.  PFC Chance Phelps was a marine who was killed in Iraq.  This film pays homage to all the military men and women who have given their lives in service for our country.  Not an easy movie to watch, especially with my oldest son now on active duty in the army.  But I’m so glad I did.

Friday2This is a picture of the birthstone necklace my hubby gave me for my birthday.  Isn’t it beautiful?

Saturday2

We usually go to the Saturday evening service at our church.  These are the crosses that are out in front of the church.  I love the witness they are to all those who pass by each day.  It’s right on the busy interstate.  Praise God for the cross.

VALENTINES

Valentine’s Day!  We went out to Chili’s for dinner. Had a great time.  What more can I say?  I love you Ricky♥

An Enduring Love

KellyShowUs

Traditionally my husband and I do not usually celebrate “Valentine's Day” on the day itself.   love3by lauraann

Too many crowds, too much hype, and so much commercialism.

However, don't let me convey the message I do not care about receiving flowers, cards, or a great big box of chocolate candy.

I'm not giving that up for sure.  We just choose to celebrate our love in a more peaceful and relaxed way.

IMG_2730 Last night we decided to watch a movie together.  Snuggled up on the couch, a fire burning, two seasoned lovers just enjoying time together.

This coming Sunday will be our 33rd Valentine’s Day celebration together, and I really could never ask for more because God gave me his best for me.

Ladies, my advice to you is to let down your expectations for this day, and just enjoy the one you love.  Give what you desire and watch what God will bring back to you.  IMG_2874

Therefore, today I dedicate this post to the man of my dreams, the father of my five sons, and now grandfather to my three beautiful granddaughters and one future linebacker, Cole Dillon.

Father, how can I thank you for answering my first prayer after salvation to send me a Christian friend?  You gave me more then my heart's desire.  Teach me to be the godly wife and mother you have called me to be.  Be glorified in our marriage, as we become a reflection of you and your bride, the church.  Let our love be lived out loud for all to see.  May you always be pleased with our service to you.  In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

♥Happy Valentine’s Day!♥

Giving Thanks

wfw-2008

Love6

I just wanted to take a minute to thank my wonderful friend Tonya for that touching post she made on my blog today!  God truly united our hearts several years ago at St. Jude.

When I looked for a scripture today this one came to mind. “How precious is your steadfast love, O God…” Ps. 37:8.  Yes God’s love for us is so precious, and He puts special people in our lives to reveal His love in even greater ways.  For this I am so grateful.

Thanks to all of you for your many words of love and encouragement.  I pray I can also be a conduit of that same special love back to you in some way!

Please join us today over at my talented friend Lori’s blog, All You Have To Give for more WFW posts!!

WHO DAT? NOBODY!

super bowl xliv

Years from now, when the memories of Sunday begin to fade, New Orleans Saints fans will still remember where they were when cornerback Tracy Porter intercepted Colts quarterback Peyton Manning and returned the ball 70 yards for the decisive touchdown of Super Bowl XLIV.

We are just so proud of our boys!!

What’s In Your Hands?

wfw-2008

Hands

There is one thing that God has given equally to all of us everyday…time.   Time is something we can use in helping others or lose on so many missed opportunities.

A listening ear,

A shoulder to  cry on,

A ride to the store,

A phone call just to say “Hi”,

An unexpected gift,

A visit to a friend going through a difficult time,

A card that says, “I care and I’m thinking of you”!

Time is truly in your hands.  Invest it well.

“Lord, help me to see what you want to put in my hands today.  Let me be sensitive to the Holy Spirit when He says, “Go”.  Thank you for your outstretched hands that have touched me, healed me, and cared for me in so many ways.  May I be your hands touching someone in the very same way.”
