The Amazing Human Body

On this Thankful Thursday the theme was to give thanks for our five senses. Yes, it's so easy to take them for granted, of course; and if you are so unfortunate to lose use of one or more of them even for a short time. Who likes a stopped up nose?

The human body is so amazing. All of these senses work in perfect harmony with each other, which allows our bodies to function perfectly. Now, I'm far from a doctor, but 5 years ago, I learned more about vision then I ever wanted to know.

My son's brain tumor is partially wrapped around his optic chiasm. These tiny nerves that cross over each other allows us to have visual fields. When everything is functioning correctly, you not only can see in front of you, but at the same time you are able to see things happening all around you.

If there is any damage to this delicate pathway the result can be loss of vision. This was a very real concern for the doctors when they operated on Jordan.

So today, I'm giving thanks for the miracle of my son's vision! Each time we go in for his 6 month check up, Jordan visits with a neuro-ophthalmologist among a host of other doctors! They are always so amazed at how well he is doing and the stability of his vision.

Lord, how can I ever thank you enough for keeping your hands on my son Jordan? You have been so gracious to protect his vision, and allow him to enjoy the many beautiful sights in this world that can easily be taken for granted.

I'm also thankful for my vision. I was once blinded by sin, but now I can see. It’s all because of the huge price you paid for our salvation on the cross at Calvary. Let us never forget how blessed we are to know and love you.

Please join many other Thankful Hearts to day over at Grace Alone today.

Ordained For Praise

I could not resist the opportunity to post this precious picture of my brand new grandson Cole. I love it when those cute little newborns start stretching their arms out as if to say, "this is a whole lot better than being all bundled up in mommy's tummy".

Welcome to our world my precious baby grandson. I pray that you will always be a man after God's own heart, and continue to lift up those holy hands to worship Him!

Remembering Brent

A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity."
Proverbs 17:17

Today is a very special day for the Nason family. They will celebrate Brentʼs 13th birthday, and what a precious and loving son he was.

Brent went to be with Jesus almost 2 years ago, after he fought a valiant battle with cancer. In the end he won, because in Christ we are more than conquerors, and death is swallowed up in victory. Iʼm sure many of you who read my blog, know what a special friendship Tonya and I share.

I had the honor of meeting Tonya first through Caringbrige, a wonderful Internet community. Tonyaʼs son Brent was in remission at the time and my son Jordan had just completed his radiation treatment. We were both St. Jude momʼs.

I was immediately drawn to Brentʼs site. Tonya was always so bold in her faith and zeal for Jesus. In the midst of fighting this most difficult battle, her faith remained unshaken. It was so easy to love Tonya, Brent and whole the Nason family. God truly brought our lives together.

Iʼve learned so much about what true faith, hope and love really look like as I watched this family stand together and testify to the goodness of God in every circumstance.

I had the awesome privilege of not only reading about how special Brent was, but I got to know really him personally and be touched by his sweet and tender spirit. Brent loved the Lord with a purity and passion that is not often seen. My son Jordan and Brent hit it off immediately, and now itʼs a friendship he will always remember and treasure.

Tonya is honoring Brentʼs giving spirit by hosting a wonderful giveaway at Safe in His Arms. Please stop by and let Tonya know you are thinking of her and the rest of the Nason family today. If you havenʼt yet met Tonya, you are in for a major blessing.

I love you Tonya and Link, and I am so thankful that you shared your precious Brent with us all to know and love. My life will never be the same.

It's THAT time again...

Hi Ladies,

I just wanted to ask if you would keep my son, Jordan, and I in your prayers this week. We will be traveling up to St. Jude Hospital for his six month checkup. We'll arrive in Memphis on Wednesday and fly back home on Saturday.

Overall, Jordan is doing very well, but “scan-time” is always a bit challenging for our faith. We know Jordan is in God’s hands, and that JESUS is in control of everything. He is the One in whom we will always place our faith and keep our trust! But your prayers mean so much as we continue along this journey.

I'll let you know as soon as we get thatgood report”. I appreciate your prayers and friendship more then you'll ever know.
